 IN THE DARK OF THE NIGHT

Into slumber, we each must go.
.Nodding or a blissful surrender flow
Taking us deep into a dreamless state
Heavens solace entry, a wonderous gate
Eternity looms; is tonight's entrance to stay?
Delving deeply into the ebony cloud
Always meeting loved ones who took the shroud.
Resting, recouping, regrouping for life's next task
Knowing tonight is just enjoy with my bygone cast
Once upon a time, I was part of that crowd
The far-flung family needed inclusion and allowed
Tasks unending but made into laughter and joy.
Having a supreme anchor makes seeing the girl and boy
Evolving into adulthood, keeping as safe as can be
Nevertheless, stumbles, overcoming mistakes
in to the psyche make inevitable times of retakes
Guided by the eternal light, goodness over taunts
Hardening or softening the internal heart wants
To become the spirit needed to overcome the world's fray.
