Title: The Penny Arcade Barker
The boardwalk promenade
Heated by day under a blazing sun
Evening into the winds of change
Pretty fortune teller of cards, pick three
Every foretelling a good one, days into years
Neath, the bangles and scarves, laid a heart
Nestled with love laced with sorrow
Yearning for a life of reality, not a facade
Acting stilted and frozen in a puppet show
Resisting a smile or a frown, frozen in a frame
Calling the card with a twist of the wrist
Always an ace in the slide, children asked
Dearest fortune teller, a cent or two only to view
Evenings many have passed into ruin, the doll with
Broken limbs akimbo left drained and lifeless
Actress no longer just the painted marionette
Raised from the dust to put on a show
Knowing her lifeblood soon is just flakes
Accenting childhood dreams without twinkling
Reaching for the stars and racing with the moon.
