Title: Danger In the Night Avoided(Acrostic Poem)
Darkness shrouds the whipping,
Actions of the branches as a violent
Nor'easter lashes copious
Gusts of wind and water ends the quiet
Evening into a dash for candles and
Rush of closing windows.
In the candle drawer, all is found
Needing feel and knowledge as a
Thunderous boom and vibration
Hurl, piling the items into the back
End, breaking matches, still usable.
Nonetheless, all prepared, peering out windows.
Investigation shows a tree uprooted, not tightly
Grasped by older trees surrounding yet to
Heaven's protection is given thanks.
The traction slant would kill if at the computer.
Averted by falling south, not westward
Virgin tree,
Only twenty-five,
In the yard, the youngest not knotted
Deeply with its surrounding trees
Even at odds with nature, should have shoved
Down North, but it fell into the wind, Praise God.

The tree survived through the summer and fall and then was severed from its stump, left four feet tall, and is growing again but in a more straight upright manner.
The tree limbs and its trunk all have made their way into wooded crafts made by my third son and his family.
