Solomon and Dal

 SOLOMON and DAL

A gleaming jewel precisely set
surrounded by wetlands, gardens
Shadowed by Solomon a Majestic
Mount and foothills with hoary peaks
The Dal lays prostrate life abounding
small fish shining their presence
While poles and nets in water troll
And exquisite houseboats lazily stroll
The water of Dal
Crowned by flowers
The Queenly Lotus
Set there for Solomon
In olden days when man ruled
The Mughal stayed and fairly settled
Today.the area still holds its lure
But tourist rush to and fro for a cure
The calm brought with the cooling breeze,
the soft waters embracing divers
And, young and old lovers seeking
eyes and lips, within this beauty, met.
