I have had variations of the virus off and on for slightly over two years. As a result, my mood elevator is sometimes in the sub-basement. While I do not usually feel sorry for myself, I dislike the inability to be my normal gung-ho-driven personality.
This connecting poem series addresses the dark side of lock-in, quietude, solitude, and, yes, self-pity.
WAITING
Allowed to be done as you are precious
Isolated for safety, seen as delicate, locked-in
Time, a forever being, is not allowed
Interaction, too sick, too different to fit into man's but
Not nature' scheme of ordinary sameness, except
Giving off not brown, but see in the dark, blue eyes.
BLUE EYES
By birth, you were different, precious,
Leading, always by example
Unless told no, this is not your place
Everyone can have it, but you are, by birth, not entitled.
Else you stray and complain;
Yielding instead to strength.
Experiencing a touch -
Stones of Unconditional love... but wishes...
WISHES
Wise one never for others
Instances than their own
Saving time by what needs doing
Harboring only thankfulness
Enjoying what God gives, understanding
Serving bestows enjoyment and happiness in all.
HAPPINESS IN ALL
Heaven does deposit gifts upon
All who are open to receive
Putting them to work in the
Purpose He calls us
Instinctively we know
Needing some or little direction
Enjoyment flows in doing when
Serving with the pleasure of talent
Seeking no longer for the fulfillment arrived,
Instead, many waste their time.
Thinking of putting it off for another day
A day that comes for them in eternity
Lost land time would be better spent
Leaving all behind in betterment... completed.
UNCOMPLETED
Understanding logistics can leave
Needs not satisfied; worry makes weary
Completion comes from peace inside.
Only if one knows that fulfillment
Metes from God are the Stella prize
Putting man's gifts in a lesson light
Lest the man is also God-centered
Evening the board to loving
Tones of a happy family
Everyone gathered together
Doting on doing things shared
